Knife
Every player always carries a knife. It follows CS:GO's rules: a quick slash, a heavy stab, and both far stronger from behind.

Slash and stab
Left click slashes, right click stabs. Damage is the same wherever it lands: the knife has no headshots. Kevlar lets 85% through.
| Attack | Damage | Through kevlar | Reach |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slash, first | 40 | 34 | 0.03 m |
| Slash, follow-up | 25 | 21.3 | 0.03 m |
| Slash from behind | 90 | 76.5 | 0.03 m |
| Stab | 65 | 55.3 | 0.02 m |
| Stab from behind | 180 | 153 | 0.02 m |
A slash counts as "first" when it comes more than 0.4 s after the last attack's recovery. A slash right after the draw is a follow-up.
Timing and backstabs
From behind means within about 62° either side of straight behind the victim.
Recovery: a slash takes 0.5 s on a hit and 0.4 s on a miss, and blocks the stab for 0.5 s. A stab takes 1.1 s on a hit and 1.0 s on a miss.
Speed: the knife is the fastest thing to run with, 6.35 m/s, and it takes 0.75 s to draw. There is no friendly fire.
The T and CT knives look different and work the same.
